Traditional still life painting

I do enjoy painting a traditional still life. When I travelled to Italy in 2016 I visited Medici Villa in Poggio a Caiano which houses an amazing collection of still life paintings from the Renaissance and later. I saw beautiful paintings of different varieties of apples, lemons, pears and other citrus fruits. They were painted so exquisitely that it instilled in me a deep appreciation for still life painting. I started this one two years ago, trying to integrate the skills I learnt at the Florence Academy of Art during a one month summer school. The painting has languished in my studio as I was busy with other projects and I have only just got around to finishing it.

Lemons with Vintage Tin and Bottle, 2021, oil on canvas, 60cm x 40cm.
