Portal forum: Art, activism and place

I was honoured to participate in the Surfcoast Shire’s Portal forum recently. The conversation was about Art, Activism and Place, hosted by Stacie Bobele, with other participating artists: poet/psychologist Richy Bennett, filmmaker/educator John Foss and sculptor/educator Peter Day. We discussed the intrinsic link between artistic expression and activism, how place informs art and why an artistic sensibility is a logical result of immersion in the natural world. It was great to connect with other artists who are all concerned about the state of our planet, and are making work not only to highlight the problems facing us but also to inspire us with the beauty of our natural world,.
