New work for the Linden Postcard Show 2018-19

Updated: Jun 2, 2019

I have just finished a few little paintings for the Linden Postcard Show 2018-19. The exhibition is open to everyone to enter but all artworks must be exactly 10 inches x 8 inches. I have decided to continue with the little plastic, soy sauce fish paintings. I have chosen to paint the plastic fish capsules to highlight these disturbing facts: they take up to 500 years to break down and they are not recycled due to their small size! Unfortunately, they end up in landfill or our oceans where they can be an environmental hazard to marine birds and animals. These single-use plastic capsules are used for just a few minutes yet they will last for many generations to come. And they are manufactured in their billions each year. I am sure if more people knew these facts, they would not use them.

Plastic catch, Deirdre Boeyen Carmichael, Deirdre Carmichael, single use plastic, plastic pollution, plastic soy sauce fish, oil painting,
Catch of the Day III, 2018, oil on canvas board, 10 x 8 inches.
