Field Notes from the New Forest

The focus of my work is the human impact on the natural world. We are living in the age of the Anthropocene in which every part of our planet bears the marks and scars of our presence.
I found this nest with plastic threads skillfully woven through it. I was struck by both the adaptive resilience of our wildlife but also the sheer pervasive impact of plastic in every aspect of our lives.
I would like us to rethink our relationship with plastic and consider the cost, not just to the natural world but ultimately to ourselves. What will be the consequences if we continue to produce and throw away plastic without regard to the impact it is having on our environment?
