Art Aid Gippsland

Black Summer, in which catastrophic and unprecedented fires raged out of control in all states of Australia, saw at least 1 billion animals die (!), 7.7 million hectares burn, 3000 homes incinerated, and 33 people die. This is the face of climate change. (The Guardian, Counting the Cost of Australia's Summer of Dread)
I have donated this painting Carbon Clouds + Fossil Fools to Art Aid Gippsland to help raise money for the Gippsland Emergency Relief Fund (GERF). There will be an online timed auction 21 Feb to 15 March as well as an exhibition of selected works at the Gippsland Art Gallery. More information can be found on the Gippsland Art Gallery website.

Inspired by the romantic landscapes of Caspar David Friedrich and the cloud studies of John Constable, here a carbon haze hangs ominously above an oil rig, a symbol of the fossil fuel industry which is a major driver of the climate emergency.
